Continuing Education Programs

The Association provides a variety of timely programs for all disciplines in Assisted Living and Nursing facilities, including administrators, directors of nursing, activity directors, social workers, certified nursing assistants, MDS Coordinators, Clinical Consultants, Therapy, QA Directors, Human Resources, and Environmental Services. SCHCA’s in-person annual events such as the Convention and Showcase, Summer Splash, Fall Planning, and Winter Conference provide opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and networking.

Communications

The Association emails a monthly newsletter and provides additional information to its members as needed. Access to the online membership directory.

Committees

Members can help navigate the path of the Association by active involvement in the Association’s committees. These committees help monitor developments in the long-term care industry and can work actively toward making positive changes for the membership. Standing committees include Payment for Services, DHEC Advisory, Budget, Education, Convention, Constitution and Bylaws, Auxiliary Income, and Legislative Committee.

Government Relations

SCHCA represents you in Columbia, SC. The Association is represented by a lobbyist whose only responsibility is to the members of the Association.

Money-Saving Programs / Endorsed Products

The South Carolina Health Care Association has made arrangements for members of the association to purchase products and services at a reduced cost. LTC Trend Tracker

LTC Trend Tracker is a web-based tool that enables long term and post-acute care providers, including assisted living, to access key information that can help their organization succeed. This exclusive benefit for SCHCA & AHCA/NCAL members, allows skilled nursing and assisted living organizations to benchmark personal metrics to those of their peers and examine ongoing quality improvement efforts. LTC Trend Tracker is SCHCA & AHCA/NCAL members’ one-stop-shop to gain timely information and valuable insight about their own performance as well as the entire profession’s.

ahcancalED is an on-line learning platform offering education that offers CEs to meet the professional development needs of AHCA/NCAL members. Members enjoy exclusive rates on webinars, trainings, courses, and other free resources.

The National Quality Award Program

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program provides a pathway for providers of long term and post-acute care services to journey towards performance excellence. The program is based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. Member centers may apply for three progressive levels of awards: Bronze-Commitment to Quality, Silver-Achievement in Quality, or Gold-Excellence in Quality. Each level has its own distinct rigors and requirements for quality and performance excellence.

Applications are judged by trained Examiners who provide feedback on opportunities for improvement to support continuous learning.
