Course Description: It has been said that the single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. This ninth session in the Reducing Litigation Risk Series will address essentials in post-acute care clinical communication practices. Techniques will be shared for effective methods of communicating concise, but comprehensive information related to resident status and treatment responses. Legal issues pertaining to communication, such as resident privacy and HIPPA standards will be reviewed. Best practices will be discussed for legally sound documentation of information that has been communicated, as well as maintaining acknowledgement of communicated information.
