9:00-11:00 “Understanding Burnout, Resiliency, and Wellness: Evidence Based Self-Care Skills to Manage Stress.” Speakers: Dean Teri Browne ,MSW, PhD and Dr. Melissa Reitmeier, LMSW, PhD College of Social Work University of South Carolina
Session Description: This training will define key, but commonly misunderstood terms such as burnout, resiliency and wellness. The session will also provide evidence-based techniques to build resiliency within your career. In addition, attendees will learn the characteristics of a well workplaces.
Objectives:
- Define key terms
- Identify evidence-based skills to build resiliency
- Examine the importance of practice self-care
- Learn how to build and participate in a wellness culture
11:00-12:00 “PASSAR” Speakers: SCDHHS TBA
This session will focus on PASSAR Level I and II requirements in long term care settings.
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00-3:00 “Helping Caring People Make End-of Life Choices” Speaker: Jill Birmingham, BSW, LNHA, PH Health Care
Session Description: Come gain knowledge to assist residents and their families make informed choices regarding end-of-life care.
Objective:
- Participants will have a working knowledge of hospice and support services for residents and families dealing with end-of-life care.
3:00-4:00 “Survey and Social Services” Speaker: Kim Wilkerson, RN Director of Clinical and Quality Services SCHCA
This session will focus on current trends identified during surveys as deficient practice. In addition, we will explore regulatory guidance of timing of social service interventions.
